We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the many people who came from near and far for the two days of opening events.
In addition to Art Square artist Yayoi Kusama and Street Furniture artists Jianhua Liu, MOUNT FUJI ARCHITECTS STUDIO, and R&Sie(n), we welcomed people from far and wide, including many friends of the museum, to the opening events.
The reception included a performance of Dancing in Towada: Koma-Inu-Illutsky by Makoto Enda and Maki Morishita of Makoto Club, as well was a recitation by Yayoi Kusama of a poem she herself had written while in Towada. The following day saw beautiful weather, and the ceremony was held outdoors beneath the blooming cherry blossoms.
After a special collaborative performance between Makoto Enda and Maki Morishita of Makoto Club and local festival taiko and guitar players, artists and guests chatted as children ran about, showing that the Art Square is already off to a great start.
The exhibition YAYOI KUSAMA Singing in Towada has also been a great success, which together with the permanent collection saw more than 20,000 visitors over the Golden Week holidays.
