Actress Mayu Tsuruta will hold a special talk to commemorate On the Beach—Jurgen Lehl’s Messages from the Sea.

About Mayu Tsuruta
A prolific actress with roles that span film, television, commercial advertisements, and theater, Mayu Tsuruta is also known for her roles as narrator on travel shows and documentaries. Won Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role at the 1996 Japanese Academy Awards for her role in Listen to the Voices of the Sea—Last Friends (Kike wadatsumi no koe Last Friends). In recent years she has starred in TV series such as Marumo no Okite, Yoidore Kotoji, and Stock Price Collapse (Kabuka Boraku) and films such as The Ravine of Goodbye (Sayonara Keikoku) (2013), Au revoir l’ été (Hotori no Sakuko) (2014), and 64: Part I (2016). She is also the author of a collection of travel essays based on the Kojiki, titled Nippon Sayuki: Kojiki-hen (Tokyo: Gentosha).
