Please take a moment to read the following precautions to ensure a pleasant museum experience. If you are leading a small group or tour, be sure to share this information with everyone in your group.
1. For Tour Conductors and Group Leaders
・ In order to avoid crowding in confined spaces such as exhibition rooms, the maximum number of people in a group is limited to 40, and only one group of 20 or more people is permitted for a single time slot.
・ Please confirm beforehand that everyone in your group is physically well enough to join the tour.
→ Please refrain from visiting the art center if you are experiencing fever or cold-like symptoms such as cough or sore throat. Similarly, we ask people at increased risk of infection, such as the elderly and people with underlying medical conditions, to refrain from entering the museum.
→ If you appear unwell, museum staff may ask you to leave the art center to ensure other visitors’ safety.
・ Groups of six or more people will be asked to split into smaller groups of five or fewer and refrain from joining other groups inside the art center.
・ We may restrict entry to reduce congestion in the exhibition galleries.
2. Visiting the Towada Art Center
・ Please refrain from talking as much as possible inside the art center to help prevent splash infection.
・ Face masks are required before entering the art center. Masks must be worn inside at all times, and please make sure your mask covers your nose.
→ Please be sure to inform art center staff at the reception desk if you are exempt from wearing a mask for health reasons.
・ Use the disinfectant dispensers available throughout the art center to disinfect your hands and fingers.
・ Keep your distance from other visitors at all times while inside the art center.
3. Artworks
Some artworks may not be exhibited as usual to prevent potential contact and spread of infection. Please note that Børre Sæthre’s UNTITLED / Dead Snow World Systems is closed to the public.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
・ Please refrain from alcohol before your visit. Intoxicated individuals will not be permitted entry.
・ Fresh flowers, food, and drink are not allowed inside. ・Smoking, eating, and drinking (including gum and candy) are prohibited inside.
・ Please do not touch the artwork or display cases.
・ Please refrain from making phone calls inside the exhibition spaces (including gallery entrances and passageways).
・Pets are not allowed inside. (Guide, hearing, and service dogs are exempt)
・ Visitors are prohibited from stepping on, climbing on, or hanging on the artworks in the outdoor Art Square.
・ Please follow any other instructions given by art center staff.
Visitors are allowed to take photographs and video. However, the following rules apply.
・ Please be considerate of others when taking photographs.
・ We may prohibit photography in exhibition spaces prone to crowding to prevent the spread of infection.
・ Live streaming video from inside the art center is prohibited. Please refrain from recording video.
・ The use of tripods, selfie sticks, and other photography equipment is prohibited in the exhibition rooms. Photography accompanied by flash, music, or sound effects (excluding shutter sounds) is also prohibited.
・ Please do not touch, climb, or otherwise damage the artwork when taking photographs.
・ Photography and video of the art center and its artworks are intended for personal use and enjoyment only. Photography and video for commercial use or formal distribution are prohibited.
・ Please note that if you publish a photograph or video where other visitors or staff are visible, you may be in violation of their personality rights.
・ Please note that if you edit and publish a photograph or video of artwork, you may be in violation of the copyright of the artist.
・ When posting a photograph or video of artwork on social media, please be sure to specify the artist’s name and the location of the photo (e.g., Towada Art Center).
