Limited Entry to the Towada Art Center During Busy Periods to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, the Towada Art Center may limit entry to the premises during busy periods when a large volume of visitors is expected.

Scheduled Dates:
Thursday, July 23 (national holiday) – Sunday, July 2
Saturday, August 8 – Sunday, August 16
Saturday, September 19 – Tuesday, September 22(national holiday)

Depending on the number of visitors, limited entry may also be enforced outside of the above window and without prior notice.

Details Concerning Limited Entry

– Admission will be restricted to 50 people every 30 minutes from 9:00 to 16:30.

– This includes guests who only intend on visiting the Cube Cafe & Shop.

– If you are denied admission due to these restrictions, you will receive a numbered ticket valid for the next available admission time.

– To keep track of the total number of visitors, admission will be limited to the main entrance of the art center (near Flower Horse).
* Entrances at the back of the art center (near the parking lot) and at the rest space inside the Towada Art Center Cube will be locked.

– During this period, re-entry to the art center will not be permitted.

– Staff will be available at all times near the main entrance.

– Please follow any instructions given by the art center staff.

Other Information

– While waiting to enter the art center, you will be asked to line up outside. Be sure to bring an umbrella on rainy days, and stay hydrated on hot days to prevent heat stroke.

– A limited numbers of seats are available at the rest space near the Cube Cafe & Shop inside the Towada Art Center Cube, which can be used while waiting for your turn for admission.

– Due to these circumstances, the rest space may become crowded. You may want to visit the cafe and shop first before seeing the rest of the art center.

– The book corner inside the rest space is temporarily closed.

The Towada Art Center has reopened as of Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

1. When visiting the museum, please help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

2. For the time being, only our permanent collection will be on display. The opening date for Inter+Play #001: Arts Towada 10th Anniversary Exhibition will be announced here on our website at a later date.

3. The Cube Cafe & Shop has also reopened as of Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

4. We may be forced to close again as the situation surrounding COVID-19 continues to develop. For the latest information, please check our website or call us at 0176-20-1127.

Help Prevent the Spread of COVID-19

When visiting the museum:

・ Put on a mask before entering.
*If you do not have one, we have masks available for purchase.

・ Use the disinfectant dispensers available throughout the museum to disinfect your hands and fingers.

・ Use our restrooms to wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds.

・ Keep your distance from other visitors at all times while inside the museum.

・ Keep your hands to yourself and do not touch the artwork, walls, or other building surfaces.

・ Please refrain from visiting the museum if you are experiencing fever or cold-like symptoms such as cough or sore throat. This also applies to the elderly and those with underlying conditions who may be at higher risk of infection.

・ If you appear unwell, museum staff may ask you to leave the museum for the safety of other visitors.

・ If you would like to visit the museum in groups of 6 or more, please call us in advance at 0176-20-1127. You will be divided into smaller groups to view the museum.

・ We may restrict admission to reduce congestion in the exhibition rooms.

・ Thorough monitoring of staff temperature and physical condition before all shifts

Towada Art Center to Reopen June 9

The Towada Art Center, which has been temporarily closed since Saturday, April 11, will reopen on Tuesday, June 9. For the time being, only our permanent collection will be on display.
Upon reopening, we will take be taking precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
