Towada Art Center proudly presents Primitive Rhythms + and the photography of Noboru Iwaki for our first Public Open Gallery.
Iwaki was born in Towada in 1953 and has made it his life’s work to capture scenes of the local mountains, forests, and gorges. His work was featured in the 2009 Canon Calendar.
Now based in Tokyo, Iwaki continues to camp out in the Hakkoda Mountain Range in order to explore its primeval forests. At this exhibition he introduces us to the untouched nature Hakkoda through 65 powerful images (including 13 from 2009 Canon Calendar).
Primitive Rhythms + is also Iwaki’s first solo show in his hometown of Towada.
