Rules

We ask that visitors abide by the following rules to ensure a better museum experience for all.

  • We may ask to check your belongings upon admission to the museum.
  • Large items such as suitcases, umbrellas, and camera equipment (monopods/tripods) are prohibited. Please use the coin lockers or leave your items with reception.
  • Dangerous, odorous, and raw items (includes flowers) are prohibited.
  • Pets are prohibited with the exception of assistance dogs (guide dogs, hearing dogs, and service dogs).
  • Smoking, eating, and drinking are prohibited (includes gum and candy).
  • Do not touch works of art or their display cases.
  • Refrain from talking on the phone in the museum.
  • Use only pencils when taking notes.
  • Refrain from entering the museum if under the influence of alcohol.
  • We recommend that you bring a jacket as the museum is fully air-conditioned.

Taking Photo & Video at the Museum

Visitors are allowed to take photographs and video. However, the following rules apply.

  • Please be considerate of others when taking photographs.
  • Flash photography, videography, and the use of tripods/selfie sticks are prohibited. The use of music and other sound effects (other than the camera’s shutter) are also prohibited.
  • Please do not touch, climb, or otherwise damage the artwork when taking photographs.
  • Photography and video of the museum and its artworks are intended for personal use and enjoyment only. Photography and video for commercial use or formal distribution are prohibited.
  • Please note that if you publish a photograph or video where other visitors or staff are visible, you may be in violation of their personality rights.
  • Please note that if you edit and publish a photograph or video of artwork, you may be in violation of the copyright of the artist.
  • When posting a photograph or video of artwork on social media, please be sure to specify the artist’s name and the location of the photo (e.g., Towada Art Center).
  • Touching or climbing on the outdoor sculptures in the Art Square is not permitted.

    • Please follow any other instructions given by museum staff.
