The first night of Open Music Square welcomed the Ushigoya Music Group (Masatoshi and Yoshiko Sakamoto, Noboru Naganuma), who have converted an old farmhouse in the neighboring Akabushi area into a studio where they hold a biannual concert series.
First, Yoshiko Sakamoto performed Akabushi Tamasudare for a welcoming audience, and even congratulated the museum on its 10th anniversary.
Next was a performance of Japanese oldies by the Ushigoya Band (Masatoshi Sakamoto, guitar; Noboru Naganuma, guitar; Yoshiko Sakamoto, keyboard). Sweet melodies, masterful playing, and fun dialogue between songs, with the audience occasionally joining in made for a night that filled the Cube with gorgeous sounds.
Thank you to everyone who came for the first night of Open Square Music, and thank you to Ushigoya Music Group for the wonderful performance.
