The Towada Art Center is closed Sunday, October 13.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has announced that Typhoon Hagibis (Typhoon No. 19) will approach Aomori Prefecture on Sunday, October 13. As we expect that the impact of the typhoon’s strong winds and heavy rain will be felt across the prefecture, the Towada Art Center will be closed on Sunday, October 13, for safety reasons. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Currently we are scheduled to be open on Saturday, October 12, and Monday, October 14, a national holiday.
*Open 9:00-17:00 (admission until 30 minutes before closing).
The museum is closed Tuesday, October 15.
However, we may close early or enact emergency measures if we detect impending damage in the vicinity of the museum. In this case, we will notify visitors on our website and via social media.

Towada Art Center Reopening Thursday, April 12, 2022
The Towada Art Center will reopen as of Tuesday, April 12, following a temporary closure from Saturday, January 22, to Sunday, April 11, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Reopening of the Towada Art Center
The Towada Art Center has reopened as of October 1, 2021, after its closure in September to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Temporary Closure of the Towada Art Center (September 1–30, 2021)
The Towada Art Center will remain closed for the following period to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Wednesday, September 1 – Thursday, September 30, 2021
The opening date for Arts Towada 10th Anniversary Exhibition: Inter+Play Season 2 has been moved to Friday, October 1, 2021.
Changes to the events scheduled for September are as follows.
– Curator Gallery Talk scheduled for Friday, September 10: Cancelled
– Performances by Behaviour Problem Trio scheduled for Saturday, September 25 and Sunday, September 26: Postponed
New dates for postponed events will be announced at a later date as we closely monitor the situation and comply with measures taken by Towada City and Aomori Prefecture.
Please note that this temporary closure may be extended as the situation continues to develop.
