Art Square Access Limited to Accommodate Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay June 9 (Wed) – 12 (Sat), 2021

Access to the outdoor restrooms and other parts of the Towada Art Center Art Square will be partially restricted as detailed below.
We appreciate your understanding.

Restricted Artworks
KUSAMA Yayoi, Love Forever, Singing in Towada; Jaume PLENSA, EVEN SHETIA; inges idee, Ghost & Unknown Mass

– June 9 (Wed): Access to the works will be limited, and some areas will be off-limits due to torch relay preparations.
– June 10 (Thu) & 11 (Fri): The works will be fenced off and inaccessible throughout the day.
– June 12 (Sat): Due to relay cleanup, access to the artwork will be limited, and some areas will remain off-limits. Art Square will be accessible as usual after cleanup and removal.

*Access to Erwin WURM’s Fat House & Fat Car and R&Sie(n)’s Hypnotic Chamber will not be affected.

Towada Art Center Reopening Thursday, April 12, 2022

The Towada Art Center will reopen as of Tuesday, April 12, following a temporary closure from Saturday, January 22, to Sunday, April 11, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Our reopening will coincide with the opening of Arts Towada 10th Anniversary Exhibition: Inter+Play Season 3, originally scheduled for January 22.

Changes to previously scheduled events are as follows.

– Behaviour Problem Trio performances have been rescheduled for Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 15.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused to those who planned to visit the Towada Art Center during the temporary closure period.
