Yamagiwa’s works dot the Towada Art Center as if to guide its visitors in his _there here and over there_ series. In I cannot be you, a marmot sits frozen in time, apparently having forgotten to hibernate.
Yamagiwa invites the visitor to a world of fantasy in his artworks. In tales of absence, another artwork on display, he creates an exhibition space of ice that glows at night. In halfway, a miniature road extends into the Towada Art Center courtyard and ends suddenly, leaving the cars stopped in their tracks. A single orange balloon floats alone in the corner of a room, as if forgotten in an elevator in tiny thing I lost.
