Erika Hidaka
Erika Hidaka produces a see-through bench that blends into the landscape of Towada’s central shopping district. A billowing figure suddenly appears as you walk along the street, and upon further inspection, you notice depressions in its surface. Hidaka notes that she wanted to create a space where visitors could sit down and take a break on the street. The presence of cloud can be likened to air, having a faint presence despite its volume, and it builds an entirely new landscape.
