Quantum Apples

SUZUKI Yasuhiro

Artwork Details

Seven rosy red apples sit atop a tree stump. Of slightly different sizes, and stacked vertically at slightly different angles, they manifest magically, like an afterimage of their dropping. The repeated rings on the white stump recall the growth of a tree, or ripples on water. The shape of the stump echoes that of this place, Towada, and in the natural phenomena of falling apples and spreading rings and ripples, one may discern a vision of the city as a place where art forms links in a chain centered on the art center.
